Transponder and ADS-B testing guide

Why transponders are tested periodically

• In the US, 14 CFR 91.413 requires ATC transponders to be tested and inspected within the preceding 24 calendar months ^[1].

What a ramp test covers

• Mode A/C/S replies and Mode S register (GICB) reads ^[3].
