SMS and OTP

Transactional text

SMS work at Novatelia is an API integration for transactional messages: a one-time password, a service alert, or an appointment notice. The text is sent by the messaging provider the customer contracts, and Novatelia connects that API to the application that needs it. Failures are recorded for a person to see. No delivery percentage and no price per message are published. A marketing blast is not this service.

Definition

A transactional SMS exists because an event happened. An OTP SMS carries a short-lived code so a person can confirm a sign-in or a transaction. The provider account, and any sender identity that provider issues, stay with the customer.

Message types

  • Transactional SMS for an event the application can name
  • One-time passwords for sign-in or a confirmation the design names
  • Service alerts
  • Appointment notifications
  • Other business messages written into the same design

API integration

  • Credentials kept in the customer’s provider account
  • A send call from the application that owns the event
  • A stored result when the provider accepts or rejects the message
  • A person notified when the send fails
  • No claim that Novatelia owns a short code or an operator license

Questions

What is OTP SMS?

An OTP SMS is a one-time password sent by text so a person can confirm a sign-in or a transaction. The code is short-lived. The SMS provider is the one the customer contracts. Novatelia connects the application to that API.

Do you guarantee that every text arrives?

No. A delivery percentage is not published. The integration records the provider’s response and shows a failure to a person.
