Operational Technology & SCADA Protection
OT security separates industrial networks from enterprise IT and limits how plant systems are reached. Novatelia supports architecture and hardware sourcing for that separation. Active scanning of live controllers is not assumed to be safe. Novatelia does not claim IEC 62443 certification or a critical-infrastructure clearance.

Definition
Operational Technology (OT) networks controlling industrial manufacturing, utilities, oil & gas facilities, and building management systems operate under fundamentally different constraints than standard enterprise IT. Availability, deterministic latency, and human safety take precedence, requiring dedicated segmentation and non-disruptive monitoring.
Capabilities
- Purdue Model IT / OT Network Segmentation
- Industrial Firewall & DMZ Architecture
- SCADA & Industrial Protocol Inspection (Modbus, BACnet, DNP3, OPC)
- Controlled Remote Maintenance & Vendor Access Gateways
- Passive Industrial Network Threat Monitoring
- Industrial Endpoint Hardening & USB Lockdowns
- Centralized OT Security Telemetry Forwarding
- Air-Gapped Network File Transfer Security
Typical requirements
- Isolating industrial plant networks from corporate business IT systems
- Providing secure, monitored remote access for equipment vendor maintenance
- Monitoring legacy PLC and RTU controllers without active scanning interference
- Enforcing strict unidirectional data diodes or DMZ jump hosts
Delivery scope
- Plant network topology and physical Purdue Level mapping
- Industrial firewall placement and strict inter-zone rulebase design
- Jump host and multi-factor authentication for remote engineering maintenance
- Non-intrusive passive network TAP and mirror port monitoring setup
- Operational As-Built documentation and industrial safety alignment

Questions this page answers
Why can traditional IT vulnerability scanners not be used on live OT networks?
Traditional IT active scanners flood IP addresses with discovery packets and exploit probes. Sensitive programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and older industrial equipment can lock up, reboot, or behave unpredictably under heavy network traffic, potentially causing dangerous physical process shutdowns.
Does Novatelia claim critical infrastructure security clearance or IEC 62443 certification?
No. Novatelia provides engineering architecture, industrial hardware sourcing, and deployment support aligned with defense-in-depth principles. We do not claim accredited certification body status.
