Aircraft Fiber Optic Testing

Aircraft fiber optic testing inspects connector end-faces and measures optical power and loss on the fibre links used in avionics, cabin and mission systems. A dirty connector or weak link can degrade a mission-critical network [1]. Fibre end-faces are typically graded against IEC 61300-3-35 by automated scopes [2]. Novatelia sources selected fibre test equipment by RFQ for customers in Oman and qualified GCC projects.

Frequently asked technical questions

Why inspect before connecting?

Contamination on an end-face causes loss and can damage the mating connector; automated scopes grade it to IEC 61300-3-35 [2].

Which wavelengths should I test?

Single-mode at 1310/1550 nm and multimode at 850/1300 nm are the typical pairs [4].
