Cybersecurity
OT cybersecurity protects the networks that run plant equipment or building controls. The work is separation from the office network, a controlled path between them, and monitoring that does not assume a workstation patch cycle. Novatelia’s OT solution is that boundary and visibility scope. It is not a full building-management sequence and it does not claim a safety certification.

Key points
- Availability of the process outranks a convenient reboot.
- Office tools do not automatically belong on the plant network.
- A vendor remote path is a design decision, not a default hole.
Definition
Operational technology is the controllers, sensors, and software that move or condition a physical process. Security here is segmentation, access, and monitoring suited to that process.
How it works
The plant or building network stays separate. A defined zone shares only the traffic both sides need. Remote vendors use a named path. Changes are scheduled around the process, not around a desktop patch Tuesday.
Architecture
- An inventory of controllers and the networks they use.
- A boundary to the office network, with the traffic written down.
- Monitoring that respects the process, plus a vendor-access method.
Use cases
- A plant network is flat and shares a path with office users.
- A vendor needs occasional access without a standing VPN to everything.
- Building controls need a boundary, without pretending to be a full building-management system.
Selection guidance
- Do not start by installing office antivirus on controllers.
- Name the safety and process owner before a change window.
- Use the physical-security and smart-infrastructure pages only for the cameras, access control, or building network they already cover.
Questions
Is OT security the same as the cybersecurity hub?
It is one solution inside that hub. Office endpoint, identity, and SIEM work stay on their own pages and join the plant design only at the boundary the project defines.
Does this include a safety certificate?
No. No safety, industrial, or government certification is claimed. The page describes network separation and monitoring scope.
