What is an Enterprise Portal?

Software

An enterprise portal is a signed-in site where each person sees the tasks and records their role allows, drawn from systems the organization already runs or from a workflow built for that purpose. It is not a public brochure and it is not a packaged ERP. Novatelia scopes portals with web applications and enterprise systems. No fixed package or price is published.

Key points

  • Identity and roles come before the screen design.
  • The portal is a front. The record still lives in a named system.
  • A template is not the scope.

Definition

A portal aggregates work for a known user. A website publishes the same pages to everyone. An ERP, if the customer has one, remains the system that owns the financial or operational record.

How it works

The person signs in. The portal asks each connected system for the items that role may see and presents the actions the scope includes, such as approving a request or reading a status. It does not invent a second copy of the accounts unless the scope says so.

Architecture

  1. Sign-in from the directory the customer uses.
  2. Role rules for each task.
  3. Connectors to the systems that own the records.

Use cases

  • Staff need one place for requests that today arrive by email.
  • Customers may see their own cases and no one else’s.
  • A management view must read status from systems without exporting spreadsheets.

Selection guidance

  • List the tasks and the system that owns each record.
  • Confirm the identity provider.
  • Do not describe the portal as an ERP replacement unless a separate system is actually being built.

Questions

Is a portal a website?

It can share a visual design and a domain. The difference is accounts and role-based work. The website solution remains the public information scope.

Does Novatelia sell a ready-made ERP?

No. Enterprise systems on this site are scoped integrations and workflows. A packaged ERP product is not published.
